COLDPLAY - Tuesday, February 25, 2003 @ 7:30 p.m.
London’s otherworldly pop quartet COLDPLAY came together on the scholarly grounds of London University College in 1996. The lineup consists of Guy Berryman on bass, Johnny Buckland on lead guitar, Will Champion on drums and lead vocalist and guitarist, Chris Martin. With their first full-length CD, Parachutes, COLDPLAY tapped into something very special. The album was a fully realized and expertly crafted masterpiece with each song holding its own, yet when grouped together making up an impenetrable fortress of sadly beautiful, melodic, glorious Britpop. Parachutes went on to sell nearly 5 million copies, was permanently positioned on many ‘best of’ lists for 2002 and won a bunch of NME, Q, & Brit awards not to mention the wee Grammy for ‘Best Alternative Album'.
Now COLDPLAY has given A Rush of Blood To The Head to the listening public. A little louder, more energetic than the last, the record is still recognizably COLDPLAY. Though comparisons to Radiohead, Travis and even Jeff Buckley abound, the group ultimately forges its own identity, filling in the cracks between its musical peers and creating its own niche in the process.Telephone orders: (514) 790-1245 or 1-800-361-4595Online orders: http://www.admission.comTICKETS ON SALE SATURDAY, JANUARY 11 AT NOON!!!
